The Secret of a Heart Note by Stacey Lee is a cute fictional novel I discovered during Stephanie Garber’s book signing during her Legendary book tour. I really shouldn’t say I, I should say my friends and I. My own little bestie book club love going to book signings and discovering new authors and books to add to our must read list.
I would highly suggest that you take time to read this book! It’s great. It’s such a sweet and cute story. I love the way Stacey Lee writes and pulls you in so quickly. This book is about Mimosa and her mother who are aromateurs, which are people who have a super strong sense of smell, strong enough that they can smell the emotions of others. Mimosa and her mother use their abilities to create potions to help people find love. They take on a new client who ends up being one of Mimosa’s teachers and from there this story evolves opening up love into Mimosa’s life and so much more.
I loved this story so much. I flew through it. This is for sure one of my favorite books in the magical realism genre. I am amazed at Stacey’s creativity. The idea that some humans have the ability to smell emotions is just amazing. She uses such great description that often I am convinced I can really smell the scents Mimosa discovers on others.
I highly recommend this book. This is not generally a genre I read, but I am so glad I gave it a chance. I look forward to reading many more books by Stacey Lee.
