Serina has been groomed her whole life to become a Grace – someone to stand by the heir to the throne as a shining, subjugated example of the perfect woman. But when her headstrong and rebellious younger sister, Nomi, catches the heir’s eye, it’s Serina who takes the fall for the dangerous secret that Nomi has been hiding.

Now trapped in a life she never wanted, Nomi has only one way to save Serina: surrender to her role as a Grace until she can use her position to release her sister. This is easier said than done. A traitor walks the halls of the palace, and deception lurks in every corner. But Serina is running out of time, imprisoned on an island where she must fight to the death to survive and one wrong move could cost her everything.

I  don’t think I can say enough great things about this book.  I have had the privilege of reading some of the best books this year.  Books that have made it to the top of my all time favorite reads not just for the year and this is one that is an all time favorite.  This book was so amazing and so well written.

I was amazed at the strength of these two sisters to carry on when thrown into situations they were not prepared for.  There is something so deeply touching to me when sisters do so much all in the hopes of protecting each other.  Serina is faced with so much when her sister is chosen to fill the role of Grace.  Jealousy, confusion, not to mention suddenly needing to learn a whole new job she was not raised to do.

Both Serina and Nomi must face the scariest moments of their life and they do it with such grace and fury (mmm wonder where the title came from haha). I ignored a lot of dirty dishes and laundry to finish reading this book.  This book was so intense, not just with the action and suspense, but I loved watching both girls grow and learn.

Watching Serina blossom into this fiercely strong and courage young women who knew it was time to fight and stand up for what is right was so incredible.  Nomi learned so much as a Grace.  She always knew that the way society treated women was wrong and she found ways to rebel even though it often got her too close to danger, when she places her sister in the worst danger she has to stop and focus and start trying to find a better way to change her world for herself and to save the life of her beloved sister.

I cannot wait to read book two.  There are already ARCS going out in giveaways.  If I could somehow show up on the radar of Little, Brown and Company’s radar and get an ARC I would be so incredible happy.  If I had a way to buy an ARC I would.  I felt like my heart was ripped apart and glued back together so many times in this story and the ending just stomped on my heart and I’m waiting for it to start beating again so I really need to read book two now!

I highly suggest reading this book.  You will walk away from the book feeling so empowered.  This was easily a 5 start review and so much more.  My life was made better by reading this book.  I’m just heart-broken it had to end.
