I was given this book in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

Life of Crime is a story I was unsure about. It follows the life of Melissa and Jason. Jason lives a dark life of stealing and selling those items. Melissa has a son and the father abandon them. Melissa’s own father convinces Jason to marry Melissa and raise her son as his own.

I have so many mixed opinions about this book. I stayed up way too late to finish this book. Life of Crime by Kimberly Chambers took me by surprise. Very rarely do books totally catch me off guard. I’ve always been able to pick up and clues an author leaves and figure out the ending. Chambers does an amazing job of providing clues that could lead in so many directions it’s hard to know which way it’s going until you get to that moment.

I started reading this book and I wasn’t sure I would like it. I was frustrated with the characters and how shallow and fake they all seemed, but goodness, by the end of it I was caught up in all the drama and had realized how smart and cunning they all were and how amazingly Chambers weaves in all the clues and hey still leaves me shocked at the end.

I can’t say I loved the actual story of this book, but Chambers does such a fantastic job of putting it together that I believe it is worth reading.
