Galactic Mandate Review

GalacticMandate: The Scream

By M.R. Richardson

“A young clone starts a journey that will take him to the far reaches of the galaxy. He must choose between what is best for his oppressed clone brethren and the greater good while he meets dangerous villains and reluctant heroes along the way.

And who are the elusive Scream? What do they want and how far will they go to get it? “ ~Description from Goodreads.

Galactic Mandate was a fun sci-fi read with unique characters that showed growth and courage throughout the entire story.  I don’t know about you, but I really love when I see a character develop and grow into something more.  I gave this book a 3.5 out of 5 star rating.

I loved the style of writing that Richardson brought into this book.  The story flowed smoothly, was quick paced, and kept me interested the entire time. The main clone, Mato, was my favorite character.  He showed a lot of growth during his journey.  When first introduced to Mato he was fighting off sharks and keeping the man they were cloned from safe.  This man is the one with the money who keeps the island of clones fed, but is really nothing more than that, but Mato knows that without his money he and his fellow clones will no longer be there.  Mato adjusts well to all situations he finds himself in and manages to have a huge roll in saving many from some dangerous scenarios. There were times at the beginning of the book that Mato seemed headstrong, impulsive, and reckless so it was nice to see him grow into a strong young clone who learned to harness his strengths and use them wisely.

I deducted a half star due to a few grammatical errors scattered throughout the book.  I know that it’s easy to miss things during the editing process, but when I have to stop a good flow to try to decipher a sentence that had typos or missing words it can be a little frustrating. This book had a great flow while reading, except for the parts that had the mistakes in them.  I can let a few mistakes go, but there seemed to be more than the average in this book and I could not overlook them because they all took time to figure out.

This book was full of clones, aliens, battles in space, and so much more.  Make sure to check it out!
